My wooden shell is 11881, but is with a speckled grey '68 set (jet black) with serial numbers between 104208 and 104519.

The most highly prized brass Dynas are those with the 7 lines, beavertails. But, they are all good, the big R drums are an especially good value and the quality is there as well.
Before the CBS buy, manufacturing was at the Covington plant, but the headquarters were at Grossman Music in Cleveland. Not sure where the drums were warehoused, probably Covington as well.
When CBS took over, they took offices and warehousing in Dayton. They probably needed more warehouse space since they intended to increase production. Dayton was pretty close to Covington: hundreds of miles closer than Cleveland, which was way up north on Lake Erie. This made sense, and the tags were changed as a result.
