My dad has owned a sunburst Epiphone Casino he bought used 1964. It is one of the early ones, first or second year, from before the Beatles.

I hope this isn't too far off topic........Did Gene Krupa ever play or endorse anything other than Slingerland? I've never seen or heard of him playing anything else but I'm far from being a GK expert.
No, Gene played Slingerland's to the very end, He was a Gentleman's Gentleman, Now he did get caught using other brand snare drums which Slingerland was not at all happy about.
Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.

That snare drum wouldn't have been a dealer assembled Dyna Sonic with slingy lugs and rims would it?:)
Steve B
Keith Moon (a premier endorser) played a luddy supra snare.
One that Steve B. has mentioned elsewhere before, that Ludwig black oysters circa mid-60s being sold on ebay under "Rare Ringo Kit". Ludwig made a gazillion of these right? Perhaps "rare" if in near mint condition.
Same holds true for Beatles original first issue LPs. Sold millions and they're only rare if sealed or never played.
That under every Ludwig Black Panther wrap is a Psych wrap lurking underneath the Black Panther wrap. NO!!
