Interesting angle from JonnyR. I'm thinking that's a Downbeat that Haynes is playing in that clip. Mine is from 68. To me it sounds mellower than his. A little smoother, but that could be just down to heads of course.

Bonham's drum sound is like sitting around a wood burning stove on a cold winters night! Lovely! You could be right JonnyR.

Interesting. This is what got me thinking. I recently bought a 80/90's Sonor Hilite set. Reviews at the time basically say its all attack and Top end. Well mine isn't. Mine is all warmth and smooth overtones. Average Maple drums I've read, some say unfocussed. Well no way, mine are warm and focussed. Could this be that ageing process has kicked in?
