I know of a fella selling an england premier kit, dont know much else about it other than he wants $400. I guess my first question is what type of premier kits bring in the bucks? what questions should I ask first.

I can't say that Premier garners a higher price tag than the typical kits of the era. As with all things vintage drums, prices tend to be pretty relative. I will say that I think Premier kits are pretty great. The pre-international "metric" sizes are not as popular due to the inherent issue of finding suitable heads. Otherwise their build quality was as good as what you find in the big 4 American companies. Their design aesthetic was incredibly strong and they arguably had the best chrome in the industry. Depending on what you found for $400 that may be a good deal.

Can't offer much advice about specific value, except to say that if $400 for a kit that you like sounds good, then it's a good buy.

You didn't mention if the kit is vintage or not, and be advised of the use of the word 'England' in recent years. Forever, Premier's badge read Premier Made in England. That's fine, and the 60s & 70s kits are generally desirable. But not long ago, when Premier product was made strictly in Asia, they changed to the badge to read Premier England. Subtle word play which also coincided with the near-demise of Premier as an English brand. Those drums aren't as desirable, certainly not in terms of resale down the line.

That's not to say that an Asian Premier kit for $400 is a bad deal, but if you want a British-made kit, Premier England isn't it.

Thanks for that Berm,

Also...the earlier, late 60's-70's ones say Made in

.......................................................England

Not all words are on the same line..ask if that is how it is written..

Lastly,I always ask if there is 16 smaller lugs on the FT...or 8 long ones?

If 8...it is a newer one...80's or 90's...maybe even later....
