Hi, just picked up a Gretsch kit that had this snare drum with it. I believe the is a Gretsch snare, but it is missing the badge. Don't understand why the badge would be missing. But I wanted to ask the experts. Is this a Gretsch drum? Also, it's stamped dated April, 12 1952. So please give me some information. Thanks guys!

Maybe early 50's 3 ply? Just a guess

I'd say so. Looks like a 50's 3 ply shell made in Brooklyn, NY.

If this is a Gretsch snare, does anyone have the correct badge and grommet they could sell me? Also, how do you install the badge correctly?

Yep, it's a Gretsch 50's 3-ply Broadkaster. The wrap looks to be in great condition too. The badge is missing, because the grommet might have come loose and fell out somewhere or someone just sold it. Gretsch Round Badge badges are going for $75 and up, so a previous owner might have sold it.

That's a very nice snare!

I don't think the bottom hoop is correct. I also question the muffler and whether the inside should be painted with the Gretsch silver paint or not?

Muffler is era correct, I believe. Also, no silver sealer used in the early 50s.

The muffler, interior and bottom hoop are all correct.
