I went on their website yesterday and ordered a small item for a friend of mine’s birthday on Sunday. Under shipping choices I chose Priority Mail figuring 2-3 day delivery would most likely have it delivered by Friday or Saturday.

Then I get an e-mail from the seller today saying my item is shipping UPS for delivery on the 24th!! What the H**l?!?!?

I called their customer service, and after hearing “We have higher than normal call volume” about 20 times, I finally reached a (supposed) Customer Service Rep. I explained the problem to him and his first comment was “You couldn’t get it on Saturday, because UPS doesn’t deliver on Saturday.” Duh!! We’re talking about USPS which DOES deliver on Saturday!!

Long story/short, the manager was too busy to speak with me and they wouldn’t do anything to rectify the problem THEY CAUSED, so I canceled the order. I requested the manager call me, but he never did.

What a bunch of jerks! Save yourself a headache and buy elsewhere!!

Yes, you missed something. The attached image is a screen capture of the Midwest Percussion shopping cart where there is a drop-down menu that allows the buyer to select their shipping method and get a cost. USPS Priority Mail is highlighted.

My issue with Midwest is that they confirmed my order to ship USPS Priority (usually 2-3 day delivery in the US) and changed it to UPS Ground with a 6-7 day delivery without asking me, or providing any sort of explanation. Then they refused to recitify their error in any fashion.

If you want to do business with a company like that, be my guest. My intention was always to warn other potential customers about MY experience.

Your title "Do not buy from MidwestPercussion.com" is pretty clear.

You do not want us buying from this seller ... because you had one bad experience.

We are to absolutely refuse to do business with a company on your word alone.

You have a bad experience and we get to edit our online sellers list.

Are you for real?

I'm thinking, no thanks. I'll be a bit more forgiving and human than this.

Dang, it must be simply awesome to go through life having never made a mistake.

I do agree with your assessment, and I wish I had titled the thread something more like "I won't buy from Midwest again".

It was presumptuous of me to tell others what to do.

My intention (I promise) was only to inform of my bad experience and how it was (IMHO) mishandled by MW and that other buyers might want to be wary.

I apologize for my inappropriate title.

I read throught the Thread and I like how things are turning out here.

I have to say I've put a few titles on Threads on a few Forums that I wish I would have thought out a little more before posting.

Thanks for informing us of your experience - good to keep in mind for sure if directed there while on the internet looking for stuff.

Im not upset at your title at all,and i never had the feeling you were telling me what to do.Personally,i do what i want to do and most certainly appreciate the heads up be it good or bad.I suppose my skin is thicker than others.I,ve realized there are people on any forum who like to point out all sorts of errors like punctuation, spelling etc,but thats what makes it so much funflower

Hit like you mean it!!

Tinman got a chance to vent and I completely understand his frustration. I don't think Tinman was coming from a 'bad place' when he wrote the post. When I first read it, I took it for what it was, venting.

Words -do- matter. You add to an injustice if you try to minimize an opposing point of view by reducing it to the level of trivial grammar and spelling corrections. One has nothing to do with the other. A valid point was made; businesses are run by 'people' and as we all know, people are fallible and they have good days and bad days. It isn't right to demonize or pillory a small business owner because one of his employees had a fight with his wife right before he went to work. Small businesses/people - are human. This is a small percussion business. As a drummer, I would love to see it succeed. I'd hate to see its reputation publicly destroyed over one or even a few badly handled transactions. Anybody who has sold on ebay knows how tough it can be to make -everybody- happy.

Tinman got the point that maybe he went a bit over the top titling his thread. Vintagemore and RogerSling reminded us about being open-minded and fair. It's all good.

John

Too many great drums to list here!

I get it now. Sorry for the misread and the 'tude. I read it and honestly interpreted in quite a different manner. I sincerely appreciate you clearing the waters here.

I apologize for the words.

Stay blessed.
