I recently bought a slingerland tom to go with a bass drum I found. The badges match and the wrap is metal but it's almost brown. Is the blackrome the only metal wrap the made? Or were there different colors?
Does Blackrome fade? Last viewed: 2 hours ago
I had a set of blackchrome also. The brown is the rust comming from the back side of the wrap. My wrap was shot.
They made three different metal wraps. Blackchrome, Copper and Chrome.

So the wrap is shot on this one?
You will have to post pictures.
I can't see them from here.:D

Here's about the best shot I could get.
My understanding is that Blakrome was a black nickel plating. I don't see how your shell could be rusted so badly, & the rest of the hardware not effected by heavy rust & pitting. Perhaps your tom was subject to some kind of heat or temperature/environment stress that caused the plating to loosen. Try some mild metal polish & let us know how it fares. (in general this Black plating scratches & comes off very easily, & does not hold up well under the stresses of a gigging band).
I found it on ebay and when you said it might be rust I was thinking it might have been left in a hot garage/attic. It also came from Florida and the humidity here in the south is rough.
On the bright side it sounds incredible
Your's arn't as bad as mine were.
Hard to tell from this picture. But it looked like the drums were left out in a hail storm.
