Double Snare Wires? Last viewed: 11 minutes ago

Loading...

A couple of days ago, I talked to a very serious collector of American made drums. He told me that he had a snare with the wires running on the underside of the batter head as well as the bottom traditional manner on the reso. I think he mentioned that it was a Slingerland. I may be wrong though. Has anyone heard of or seen such an instrument? I'm supposing it must have some type of a double strainer system. Very interesting. Thanks.

Well, that would be interesting to see a pic of such a setup. Probably pretty darn loud. Hope someone can tell us more.

Thank you!

The Remo Legato and I believe Premier marching drums had double snares as an add on.

I know the Remo did ,but a lot of corps would not use them because they were too analytical and showed mistakes made by the drummer too often(plus they busted a lot).

The Royal Ace by Premier had the double system. I almost bought a nice marcher with system intact for $68 at an antiques mall, I walked back to get it and it was gone.

Thanks for responding, sir! Until today, I never knew such unique instruments even existed! What a cool idea! I will definitely investigate further. The whole concept is intriguing. I love learning about these old tubs! Thanks again!
