Drum Art Last viewed: 1 day ago

Since the bass drum head art thread was met with such a positive response I thought it would be cool to do a companion thread and post picture of really cool drum art. Lets keep this thread to hand done artwork on the drum itself so there is no crossover or duplicate posts.

Given the line of work I am in I have been fortunate enough to see some very cool drums with some amazing artwork on them over the years so I will post a combination of drums that have come through my shop as well as other I have seen in person or just found on the internet.

This Is a Cooperman drum with a painting by Melissa Roache, the Eagle is Amazing.

A drum from the Odd Fellows Lodge. This one is from one of my customers. Anyone know anything about the drum or the artwork?

Love it Matt! I find the drum artwork to be even more interesting than the bass drum head artwork.

Thank you!

Matt,

After seeing the bass drum art thread yesterday, I was going to suggest a separate thread for heraldry art, but you beat me to it. I researched Colonial and British Heraldry just briefly to determine what was historically appropriate for the facing crest on the GFG drums you made for us, and discovered that while much has been published about military crests, insignias, and heraldry, no one to date has ever published a book solely dedicated to military drum art. A small publisher even invited me to submit a draft if I ever put one together. You may be in a unique position to start collecting and documenting this very specialized art form. Good luck and can't wait to see more examples.

And that eagle on the Cooperman drum is way better than some of the eagles that appeared on the original, period drums...
