As bizarre as this is probably going to sound, I have never used microphones with my drums. I guess that I really am "old school" (lol)!

Anyway, I've been considering purchasing microphones for some of our outdoor venues. Since I'm totally clueless regarding this subject, I'm hoping that some of you might be able to provide some guidance and recommendations as to what I might actually need. Our particular group does a mix of R&B, southern rock, some acoustical tunes, and other "fun stuff" (i.e., motown, ballads, country, etc.).

Any "words of wisdom" would be greatly appreciated.

The Shure drum mic pack with the Beta52 kick mic in it. You won't go wrong with Shure SM57's on anything really. Or AKG D112 Kick mic and SM57 on snare and toms.. I only use 4 mics now in open air venues. Kick, snare, and two small Condenser overheads.

Gary i use shure microphones. sm 57. sm 58 and for the bass drum a shure beta 52. http://www.shure.com/americas/products/microphones

I agree with Shure...but is anyone familiar with the Superlux Brand of drum Mics? A google search does not turn up much useful info. Thanks.

2 over head condensors and a good kick drum mic is all you need.

I lucky my new band already has drum mics, plus we normally play gigs where we have sound men that supply mics

Anyone have any experience with CAD PRO-7 mics? If so, do you believe they'd be worth $100 (for 7 pieces) used?

It's probably hard to go wrong for $100 and 7 mics.

I opted to get some audix mics and have had them for 15 years.

For most of my gigs a couple of overheads, a bass and a snare mic are all that are needed- sometimes it's just a bass mic.
