Well it looks like drum prices for our beloved vintage drums will continue to fall. Good news for buyers, bad news for sellers.
Drum Prices Last viewed: 2 hours ago
It's great news to those of us who enjoy vintage drums as a hobby, not a business.
Well, actually that's not a good thing, the bad enconomy is causing that and it will get worse, but on the bright side, your taxes, gas, food and medical expenses will rise. Hurting
Hey JR,
Serious questions here:
Are you in the business of selling drums for a profit? Or.... are you still searching for that perfect kit? Just wondering.

+1
I enjoy a little "catch and release" myself, but it's to have fun and get to play on some great snares, cymbals, and kits, and find out what makes them tick. If I were looking to profit or make a living at it, I'd be at my wit's end by now...

I'm no longer searching for the perfect kit, there is not one. I'm now seaching for understanding, I'm confused and have lost my faith in America.

I'd be interested to know how many data points your conclusion is based on, what brands you keep track of, and how long you have been collecting data.
Are prices falling at the higher end of the market (those "beloved" ones) more or less than at the lower end of the market pricewise (thinking of the very common Acros or Supras)?
How long have prices been falling ("continue to fall" implying you have been detecting a fall for some time)?
I ask as a careful watcher of a very small segment of the cymbal market (Paiste 602s and Sound Creations), but even that is such a large data collection task I've given up systematic data collection of the vintage drums which I used to track for comparison. Thus I'm keen to hear what your observations are (and others of course).
In case it is of interest some analysis I've done (now out of date due to new data *sigh*)
Special analysis of 22" dark rides (602 and SC)
Raw data available on request, as always, for people who want to do their own analysis
all except the Ringo kits ( the real one's )
66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp
once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
I think you guys are missing the point, it's about the economy and how I believe it will get worse in the next few years. I believe Tuesday, November 6, 2012 was one of the worst days in American history.
