Drum Show Feedback Last viewed: 2 hours ago

What did you guys think about the show? Due to family plans I cound not get there till sunday, most of the deals and great drums were gone by then. (gobbled up by you know who)

after talking to several friends of mine who had boohts there, they said it was much less attended than years past. The booths were not sold out and many guys had the luxury of spreading out due to empty space.

Just when you say "what will they think off next" some guy is marketing drums made out of old garbage cans, (I hate to say it they sounded pretty good) I had little hope of finding my 70 sling artist snare in MWP, (if it was there, it sold early I suspect or ended up in Maxwell's car)

I had guys trying to sell me stuff I had no interest in............I did have my eye on a Visalite clear set all original for $1200 Including the snare, 4 toms, clean, just missing the mufflers. anyway I left he house with $800 and came back with $800, no drums though

I dont know about Sunday but we were in when the doors opened Saturday. It was slow, not near as much people as last year. I had my eyes on a beautuful Ludwig clubdate in Sky blue that was a 22,12,14. I have been searching for a sbp clubdate ft for two years, there it was right in front of me. It was 900 for the three drums, what a deal! Well I did not bring 900 with me, it sold about two hours later. Then had my eye on a beat up Ludwig maple blue and olive badge kit, 22,12,13, 16 for 400 but same story, not enough cash. My drums have all come from craigs list, people who just want them gone. The drum show is great but not a place to buy them. One vender was such a smart ass, I would never buy from him. But as I said, it is a wonderful show, vintage drums everywhere you look. And I had a ball just looking.

Blaemire drums had an awsome kit set up with two remote bass drums, it was really cool and very fun to play, I really enjoyed that!

There were several custom builders and I found that my finish quality is right up there with their's, even better than some. The guys from VDF that I spoke with were very nice and I really enjoyed that as well. It too bad that VDF doesn't have a booth like the DFO had, it would be a great way to meet more members.

Thank you!

That's a great idea to have a booth there to represent the forum, I think Tommy may have his snare collection there next year. all of Buddy's drums, that would be something to see. I forgot to mention that one of my buddy's had a booth there, his collection is unlike nothing I've ever seen before. Not sure how he found all this stuff, he sold a few kits, and he not give them away either. Too bad he doesn't use the forum, he could help many collectors out with what he knows. check out his web site, be sure to see the Rogers kits, which is he partial to. what is you here is not even half of what he owns. It's just sick.

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

It did seem smaller. I attend most years. I didn't walk away with much this time. Got some info on some drumming people and shook some hands. It's always a gab-fest and this one did not disappoint.

End of an era?

I used to be able to run around and find enough stuff that was under priced to pay for the $1,000+ the show would cost me with tables/gas/food etc..

But,in the last 2 times I did the show...that wasn't the case...so quite going as a vendor..

Now it seems smarter just to go there to buy....
