While cleaning up my drum room,I put all of my sticks in pairs and put them away. There were some from the 70's I used, presents ect.I bought a few lots on Eba and got some sticks that way Even a hand make stick for the 30's.Oldies and new ones. Then I realized I never have broke a stick..In the late 60's I used these 2 by 4's that Ginger Baker used just to copy him.My Jazz friends laughed at those big ass sticks so much I stopped using them.Anyway is there anyone else who can say"I NEVER BROKE A DRUM STICK".I counted 25 pair of sticks including a stick from G.B. himself from a 1984 show and a stick from Dennis Thompson/MC5 .Ah to be a drummer groupie.V

I've never broke one. Got tired of a few. VF's in the foreground have had a very long time on so called stick chopper rims. Fun thread.

Wow you guys are good. I've busted a few sticks over the years. Just well used to the point they had enough. Or flawed from the start cracked at the grain. Few busted heads too. Nothing record breaking just wear and tear.

Glenn.

Not a guru just havin fun with some old dusty drums.

Those white sticks with the red and blue in your picture... You weren't in the Spirit of America marching band were you???

I was two years and those look just like my sticks from my second tour. That would be summer 88 or 89- I need to check the pictures.

It would be good to reconnect with some of the people from that experience. I check google every so often and nothing comes up.

Anyway, I broke plenty of sticks and heads. I started when I was six and broke everything! Never broke a cymbal however. Not with sticks anyway.

Hi J!m.

Not in the SOA band. Those are Rocknockers painted white with blue and red tape. Made them for 4 July 1976 marching band parade.

Ok. Know anyone who was? I was one of the older ones as most were still in high school and I went after graduation. My sticks were (are) white tape over the length and red and blue tape stripes. Look exactly the same!

I've broken so many sticks growing up as a drummer playing in loud bands. I've smashed my way through a pile of B8 cymbals and busted heads. Drum heads that is. :)

Not so much these days.

I broke a lot in the early days but it must be a good couple of years since I last had one go. That being said I still have to replace them as they wear out... tips chips and the neck slowly whittles down. I like having a brand new pair at a show with another new pair on standby in case I drop one, etc. That tends to mean there's always a fair few okay quality sticks lying around for rehearsals and woodshedding.

I don't recall ever breaking a stick or a head, but I don't hit nearly as hard as some drummers do.

I did crack a couple of cymbals when I was younger and used 2B sticks, or the butt end, or Rock Knockers.
