I do respect your experience. Just myself I don't like the idea of applying candle wax to a bearing edge,- though I suppose if people have been doing this it's probably not doing any harm. I'm quite attracted to this drum dial stuff but how would you know if it's totally safe on a collectable ( and playable) 70 year old vintage drum? When I change heads I do know beeswax will be a good thing to use and it does help with tuning. Anyway thanks for the response.

Well in thirty or so years we will probably have the answer... Meantime I can assure you that the Candle Wax (paraffin) will do no harm.. Note we also use it in woodturning for sealing the end grain of timber during the aging process.. It prevents the timber from drying out too quickly thus avoiding splits/cracks.. I have a shed full of rare collectable timber blanks, some of which have been stored for up to 20 years.
