SNARE DRUMS:

Stewart - $110

Apollo - $110

Wilson Brothers - $500 includes original Clam-Shell canvas case

No-Name (MIJ) Metal shell....nice drum - $80

Slingerland Parade - $140

Ludwig 16" Floor tom - WMP Spring of 1965 (Keystone badge of course) - $350

70's Gon Bops conga.....nice solid old drum with original head (Gon Bops stamp) - $250

No-Name - made in Japan (maybe?) - fiberglass - Red - CONGA. I am surprised at the solid heavy metal hardware - it looks well made for a cheap off-shore drum. The head is amazing too. It's as good as the expensive heads on my Valjes. - $140

If anyone is interested in any of these drums email me please - I can send photos and complete description at that time.

BUMP -

Tell me truthfully please - are my prices too high = out of line?

I'm looking to sell these drums to people that want to keep them - maybe been looking for one or more of these drums to play - not to resell and make money on if you know what I mean.

So let me know please - all you folks that buy and sell this stuff - what would a 'price-to-sell' - a reasonabe price - for buyer and seller be?

I don't want to make money on these drums but at the same time I'd like to get back what I've got into them.

Since you're asking...I would cut your prices in half on the Stewart, Apollo and MIJ metal snare. That would be more realistic. I'm not familiar with Wilson Brothers brand, so I won't comment. As for the others...I suppose they could come down a tad to sell.

When I sell, if I have a bottom line number in mind, I start a little higher and then keep reducing in small increments until someone bites. I check eBay for prices and look for the lowest one as a gauge. If a drum is sitting with a "Buy It Now" price and is still active, then it's priced too high.

Good luck with your sales!

Thanks for the advice.

It sounds like I should just hang onto the MIJ drums - I like playing them and I really don't want to sell them for less than what I have into them.

I have mostly Gretsch drums, some Ludwig and a Slingy Parade drum. I want to try to reduce my inventory so I have just Gretsch and Gladstone (LangPercussion) but I'm in no hurry.

A comment about the MIJ drums:

I'm really impressed with how they tune up. I mean, for really cheaply made drums they're pretty nice - the WMP and Red Sparkle wrap is not too shabby either. The metal shelled one doesn't evey have a badge or nameplate but it works fine and sounds not too bad.........as someone here says "it's a drum....hit it."

Thanks again for your advice emoonlightdrummer

I agree...for the money...MIJ drums can sound quite nice when tuned up properly! I like the 70's thick-shelled ones (6-ply or whatever they are). The hardware is usually the crappiest part of MIJ drums...especially the strainers...but can be used and abused with no guilt.

Some of those thin-shelled mij snares can sound really raspy and nasty... In a good way. I like them alot. They don't typically fetch much unless someone is trying to match up w a set.
