More pics of drums
and some more pics
It says Ludwig on the BD muffler. How do you know these are Duplex drums? There should be a decal inside the drum shells that say Duplex.
Nice! First let me say that I'm very uneducated on Duplex. I do have a Duplex snare and the strainer looks just like mine. Also, my snare doesn't have reinforcement rings. It looks like yours doesn't either.
I was told they were. The muffler is a WFL yes. Maybe someone here would be familiar with them and shed some info. I can see if there is any markings in the bass drum, but there is none in the snare that I could see.
Thanks for the reply,Ed
you do indeed have a duplex but the snare drum has a couple of different parts added over the years to it. the butt end is after market modern. this drum very had one the gut snare wires would have been held in place by the rim gate, also the rim clips are gretsch not duplex, here take a look at mine,

That gate would have been used with a metal rim on the snare? The butt does look "modern" also. And the way the rods splay on the snare didn't look to "right"to me also.

According to this website, it's a Gretsch. http://www.hi-net.ne.jp/~samasa/gretsch.htm
Scroll to the last drum. Looks like the same drum to me.
It has a Duplex strainer, yes. But many drums did back then.
Is the inside silver?
Did research on the artists name Ivar Asbjorn Sverre (looks like an S), found nothing, most likely a local unknown artist.
