DW 6710 Ultralight Flat Base Cymbal Stand Last viewed: 7 hours ago

Does anyone have experience with the DW 6710 Ultralight flat base cymbal stand as seen here:

http://www.dwdrums.com/hardware/6000/hardware.asp

I would go with the regular lightweight 6710 stand, but I am really not a fan of the over-designed titler and adjustable cymbal seat that DW puts on those. Really kills the clean vintage feel for me.

I am concerned that the Ultralight stand wont be sturdy enough as they have smaller tripod legs. I don't want them wobbling or falling over!

I am not a hard hitter, but have a setup with two 60s Zildjian rides, 20" and 22". Also, I can't seem to find pictures of the Ultralight stands actually set up with a kit to get some perspective.

Thoughts anyone? Or suggestions on other new, vintage esque hardware?

I currently have a straight stand I use for my 20" K Custom Ride. However, I previously gigged with three of them. Two straight, and one with the boom.

I loved them! They are lightweight and durable as hell! They don't take up near the room as single or double braced stands either. No wobble that I recall, and never had one fall over. I had downsized my gigging kit to a 3 pc., and at the time was even playing an 18" bass drum. It was a great set-up for clubbing, or if you have a bad back like me.Mind Blowi

Nice vintage look too! Never had the snare or high-hat stand, but surely they are nice too. Always have the 5000 or 9000 series stuff on the feet, they're bulletproof!Keep on Pl

I have two of them(6710), plus the hi hat stand. Very sturdy, they don't wobble and have never ever been close to falling over!

Thanks for the feedback y'all.

I found a great review of these ultralight DW stands here:

Might be useful to others considering.

I love em! I use the straight stands on my rock gigs, and the jazz gigs I use the 6000 HH and snare stand. Keeps the hardware bag light.

If you prefer the design Gibraltar make a version and Ludwig make the Atlas series but they look a bit chunky to me.

It's the feet that make the Ludwigs look clunky & the wingnuts are flashy. Says the man who owns the snare stand, hi-hat & 3 straight stands :D
