I have done this with my Dw's and My Ludwig Stainless steel kit, the Ludwigs smoked them, but that has been the case period with my Stainless steel kit, against any other wood, or plastic.

Unfortunately I've not been able to play a set of Luddy SS's. I hope to get some at some point. How exactly do they smoke the rest?

p.s. In a nice way, I'm intrigued.

More projection, and clarity of sound. Also in volume. Also in my A/B Subjects, the same sizes were used, 14x24". 10x14" 16x16" and 16x18"

So what happened? Surly this would be a Metal drummers wet dream!! Why in nearly 40 years have the Ludwig SS been allocated to the "Rare" bin. There must be something your not telling us. Is it the articulation at high tempo? The ultimate lack of fatness over studio and live mic'ing? The fact that 1 in 5 kits were not made properly in the round and therefore not tuneable? I don't get it. Maybe they scratch to easily.

Simple they where the most expensive drums of their time. They sound fantastic soft or loud, they are not a one trick pony, In fact If I was behind the curtain with them you would not be able to tell they are solid metal drums, they are warm, articulate, clean sounding drums.

Are the current batch of SS's from luddy up to the same deal?

Makes me want to have a stainless steel kit. The reality is that there are not many available unfortunately.

I like this thread from the standpoint that everyone seems to have an open mind. It is much easier to disseminate information this way.

No. the Ludwig's are The best Marine grade stainless steel available. they also have rolled bearing edges. the Dunnett Ludwig's are reissues of the real deal. Listen to John Bonham on how the west was won, to hear the Might stainless steel roar. On we're gonna groove.
