The douche-bagginess never ceases to amaze me. I suggest winning an auction of his that you could win, then level him with horrible feedback.
Dead dogs like rusty fire hydrants!!!
Keep the email and report it to eBay. If you won after bidding, it's a binding contract. Even though the Seller sold it, you can have a notch taken out of his belt for future selling.
I eBay quite a bit as a seller and have had a few bad apples. I try to work out things the best I can as a Seller, but there are a lot of bad apples out there.

That's BS. The seller copped-out because the item sold for way less than what he wanted! That's the chance you take as a seller with a no-reserve auction. (been there, done that, bought the tee-shirt). Regardless, Ebay should ban him for re-neg'n on the sale.
Well that was the first time that i left anyone a neg comment on e bay , and i had a few not so happy moment's buying from ebay , and when i did get a bad one , i just wrote it off and said nothing , not even leaving any feed back . but this guy what an a hole , and it was his first kick at the can with e bay . i was able after all to leave him a feed back and a realy good one to boot , when other's see this they will realy think twice . i sold stuff on ebay and took a bath on the stuff , i never get emotional about it , it just suck's i know , but i alway's come good .
karma is my religion , and it's true what goes around comes around .

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
A similar thing happened to me, I found my dream crash cymbal, with soundfile and everything, bought it BIN, and I got an e-mail saying the item was sold weeks ago in the seller's store. DOH
Definitely not signaling out the OP of this thread, but......
The EBAY thrashing threads make no sense to me at all. Of course the guy "sold it to his friend" after he realized he wasn't getting what he wanted for it. Why not put a higher reserve on it? Who knows? Bottom line is that when one chooses to deal with a complete stranger and the only form of communication is that he types to you, then you should expect the worst and hope for the best. That entire online auction concept lays the groundwork for scheme after scheme and as long as people are paying the fees, EBAY DOESN"T CARE. It seems everyone wants the honesty and do-goodiness of the local general store but when they were still open in town, nobody shopped there and they all went out of business. We are stuck with what we got and it is our own faults. Every transaction on EBAY that is made, further drives a nail in the cofffin of any chance of the small businesses staying open where you can talk and tire kick and get that warm fuzzy before buying. It is nothing more than a crap shoot now.
A buyer/seller getting ripped off on EBAY and complaining about it makes about as much sense to me as a lion tamer complaining when one of those lions takes a bite out of his backside. He should have known better..............
