Early 1900's Ludwig 14x5 6-lug COB Last viewed: 15 hours ago

Hello Fellow Drummers,

I'm new to this forum, having recently "inherited" some vintage drums from an old friend. This person was literally going to throw them all away, so being a drummer I told him I'd happily take them off his hands.

To be honest, I'm not really sure what I have. I think this Ludwig was made b/t 1910-1920something based on what I've seen online.

There is no badge, and this is the only marking of any kind on the batter side hoop:

Here are some other pics that I took of the drum:

What I believe is the original throwoff, not currently attached:

If anybody has any information about this snare, I'd love to hear it. I'm planning on cleaning it up and restoring it to keep and play.

I'll be creating other posts for the other equipment I received.

Cheers!

Ryan

Your very welcome, and thank you also, and yes get some simichrome polish or cape code cloths and polish that bugger up, don't use steel wool on the drum it will scratch the shell, the simichrome will need a good cotton cloth to polish and clean with the cape code cloths are actual sheets wear gloves with the cape cod cloths and don't rub your eyes with this stuff around or you'll find out?

PearlDrummeRyan - Here is a link that could help you get a more spacific date range for your drum, based on the catalogues. It breaks it down based on the metal shelled drums that had that P338 strainer.
