Early Slingerland 14"x 28" bass CL find. Last viewed: 3 hours ago

Had to bring this home. Looks like a No. 404 from the 1928 catalog. Was a marcher. Only wear on the calfs is dead center both sides. The boom out of this startled a dog that sleeps through or ignores most loud noises :-)

The hoops have been stained. Normal? Any other insight appreciated.

That's a nice one! It could even be as late as 1937-38, as this model (Artists Model) is in the '36-37 catalog as well as the '38. Every example shows maple hoops.

Thank You!

Does anybody know when the "S" tension rods were phased out? Haven't found anything yet.

Probably around 1938.

Hard times from 1928 to 1938. Not surprised nothing changed on Artists models. Must have sold thousands over those years. Sure don't see many surviving. Easy to see why pre WW-II is well liked. Just a mighty fine drum.

Many thanks Mr.Cooper for all of your help!
