Early Slingerland Kit Last viewed: 23 minutes ago

Loading...

Picked these up the other day as I needed a restoration project. I believe it to be a mid 40's Slingerland 24" bass, 7 x 14 solid shell snare, and a couple of toms along with a later Slingerland floor tom conversion, a trans stamp cymbal and a few hardware pieces. It is an aluminum badged kit so I am assuming it to be 40's right after the use of wood lugs etc. The WMP wrap is good on toms and bass, but has some cracks on the snare that will need some repair. But any help dating this kit would be appreciated.

Needs some work, but should be a fun project.

Where did you find those? I never have any luck finding a kit that cool, very nice.

I put it away in storage so will have to dig it out when I am at my storage area to measure and weigh it.

I was at my buddy's vintage drum shop here in Mpls. when a guy came in with these and wanted to sell them to the shop. He is full up on vintage kits right now and had something similar already so I asked if he mined me a making a deal with the guy, and he said go ahead. These had been in his family for years and none of his immediate family wanted them and he was sick of moving and storing them. Right place, right time is all I guess.

Nice drums! The aluminum badge dates the drums to about 1945-47.

That is the first real pedal I ever had. Bought it after the pedal that came with my MIJ kit died. I liked that pedal a lot.
