Early to mid 70's Rodgers Set Last viewed: 7 hours ago

Loading...

Good morning everyone. I just joined this forum today. I have a 6pc set. With all stands and Symbols. I am looking for the best place to get the value and interest in something like this? I do not play the drums but a family member did and he would like to see them go to a good home. Any ideas would be much appreciated. Can send or post pics after I clean them up. They have been sitting for 20 years under a sheet:) Thanks again

Looking for a starting value and if selling it as one or splitting it up would be better?

Hi Chad,

The biggest issue is that you're dealing with concert toms, which lowers the value. Can't tell for sure about the tom holder on the bass drum. Is it a Rogers or another make? My experience and knowledge are the pre Big R drums. There are other members on the forum who can offer up more information on your kit. Hopefully, they'll be chiming in soon.

Looks like you have a Ludwig double tom mount on the bass drum (the double tom floor stand is also Ludwig). One question is whether that was installed as original equipment (perhaps by someone who didn't like the Memri-Loc stuff and ordered "virgin" drums and then installed the Ludwig parts) or did they remove the memri-loc parts and replace them with the Ludwigs. If the latter there'd be the dreaded extra holes but either way that's a bit of a hit on value as people generally prefer that stuff have the "correct" hardware. That and the concert toms, plus the somewhat bland white finish (both of which were, however, very popular at the time these were new) would also tend to reduce the value. I really don't have enough market experience on 70's Rogers drums to offer up a price. The cymbals could hold some value as well depending on what they are.

This would make a great set of functional vintage American made drums for someone if they were okay with the single headed concert toms but I'll leave it to others to offer up pricing estimates.

I thought the mount looked like a Ludwig!

These have been hacked on a bit. Take the best offer you get, sell the cymbals separately. They also did not all come together in the beginning. the number you posted is from 1975/76.
