ebay screw up that was all my fault Last viewed: 21 hours ago

Greetings. If (ebay seller name) ktdrumming is a member here, I just want to apologize. I had placed a rather low ball bid on a 6x14 DW snare drum that he had for sale a few weeks ago and then promptly forgot all about it. I have not been on eBay for a while as I have been extremely busy. As an example I have put in about 50 hours this week just since Monday but I digress. Regardless, I popped on there today and noticed I had some messages from eBay and they are usually just junk mail. As I as about to delete them I realized one was a case of non-payment that was opened against me and another was a case closed notice. So color me a fool and completely embarrassed. I sent a message to the seller offering to buy it and would have gladly payed an additional sum for his troubles and, in my case, stupid tax. Regardless, it is back up for sale as it should be and I have now created more work for some unsuspecting soul and delayed his cash flow in the process.

Not looking for any sympathy at all from the fine folks here at the forum, I was just hoping he might be a member here on the off chance that I can publicly apologize for being a completely unacceptable buyer.

stuff like that happens on ebay all the time. your lowball bid , probably shocked the seller when it won, so he/she needed to get out of it fast. ( i wouldn't do that but...) send them an email, explanation and an apology and agree to do a mutual bid cancellation( if ebay will now allow you to? that's all a lot of sellers are worried about---the fact that they have to pay fees for an awol buyer. i have even phoned ebay and had them make changes to a circumstance( you have to climb the ladder a bit) but it can happen .

I appreciate that comment and understand the circumstances. I knew when the auction ended and usually set an alarm on my calendar but I did not on this item and, quite frankly completely forgot I had even bid on it until I saw the notices. Totally my fault.

It happens. I have 100% feedback and recently purchased a gift for my dad. I normally buy from this seller and totally lost track of the purchase. I showed him what I got him on my phone and could have sworn it arrived and he had it. We both were looking for it. I was looking for it at my house and he was looking for it at his house. We both thought it came. It wasn't until I got the no payment reminder from ebay that I remembered that I didn't pay for it and it hadn't shown up.

Squint - stop beating yourself up man! Losing a DW snare that you 'could have' had for a low-ball bid, is punishment enough! Hurting

Chalk it up to a lesson learned.

Too many great drums to list here!

Perhaps this thread is serving as redemption and making it right as perhaps it is serving as good PR for said drum: http://www.ebay.com/itm/DW-COLLECTORS-SERIES-14-x-6-TEN-AND-SIX-ALL-MAPLE-SNARE-DRUM-NO-RESERVE-/171107333264?pt=LH_DefaultDomain_0&hash=item27d6cab490

It DOES have 11 bids afterall!

Mighty tall of you to offer this public apology - another example of the good heartness we have here on the forum!

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

I have opted to not bid on it again as that would just be bad form. I certainly hope he gets more for it than what I was supposed to pay.

+1^ This. Not only do you make a public apology, but try to make amends,to a guy you never met...and that takes class...which you sir, seem to have an abundance of.

Well done.

As I said, I am not looking for sympathy but do appreciate the comments. I was just hoping the seller might happen to be a member here.

Sellers on eBay get a bad rap around here from time to time. I figure it's only fair to point out that buyers can be complete morons as well.
