eBay......There's no pleasing all buyers Last viewed: 2 hours ago

I've had a bad 2 weeks with eBay. I have over 400 transactions and in the past two weeks I have managed to get a suspension for mislisting, my second negative feedback and a neutral feedback.

I guess I just like seeing that 100% feedback I used to have, and there are some arseholes out there, that no matter how nice you are, or how much you try to solve things, they just don't want you to have that 100%.

This following statement is what I would like to say face to face to the anonymous buyer:

I don't care if you leave a feedback because I did you wrong (which I feel hasn't happened and won't) but don't leave one just to be a jerk. Try contacting me about your issue, let's work it out, or at least try! You bid, you won and then waited for 3 invoices and a Non-Paying Bidder case to be opened, then you paid 2 days later and have the nerve to leave me a neutral and a lousy comment about communication? I think I did as much communicating as needed.

Also, why are you complaining about overcharging for shipping, when I refunded over $3.00 back to you before you left feedback stating I overcharged for shipping? Doesn't that seem kind of stupid on your part?

I'm going to go sharpen my pencil and re-write my "legal mumbo jumbo" for all my auctions to include the fact that I charge for handling ($2.00 for U.S. and $5.00 for Int'l), which is used for Insurance and the little left over for materials.

Sorry for the rant but I needed to vent. I've had it with whiny eBay buyers who feel slighted at the littlest thing and can't work it out like a man.

Now I'm gonna go beat the crap out of my pracitce pad because it's too late for the drums in the garage.

Its better to have people think you're an idiot, than to open your mouth and prove them wrong, unless you doubt yourself then speak away....

I think you hit the nail on the head to be honest. People fall in love with those worthless EBAY rankings and place much too much prestige on them. The very reason EBAY is the auction house of choice is the very reason you shouldn't fret over a loose cannon customer. THEY REACH EVERYONE with their listings, and that doesn't exclude the uber-picky or super-finicky or ones who will complain because their lives have nothing positive to offer and they have no other recourse than to complain. So be it. Life goes on and EBAY rankings fade off way into the background, and fast. Nobody's eulogy will include their EBAY feedback score.............

P.S. I vote you give the neighbors a free concert and head out to the garage. That's how I roll. When I am in town, my kit is open for business 24/7!!!

I sold a Pearl Firecracker snare to a woman last xmas. The guy at UPS store here told me it wouldn't make it to her by xmas. I told her that and she started giving me all kinds of bs. I ended up shipping her the drum priority and taking a loss even though she got in time for little Timmy. She gave me a neutral. It's my only non-positive feedback since 2007.

BBK, Iam going to be on that train soon with a Neg feedback coming i can feel it..I had a auction that ended i stated in my listing payment do with in 3 days of auctions end..The bidder emailed me saying that he had a problem with his pay-pal account and wanted to send me a check i said ok told him to email me and we would work it out this all happen on the day the auction ended..He nevered emailed me Ebay-{paypal}- open a un paid case at the 4th day-[I did not do that myself Ebay did?}- They Ebay closed the case and relisted the item..So now iam waiting for the feedback from the winning bidder.I know as a seller you can only leave Pos feedback to buyer...in this case along with the others that have left me Nev feedback.I post my feedback to winning bidder as "I SAY NOT!!!NON-PAYMENT,DONT TAKE BIDS FROM THEM"...After almost 10 years on Ebay with over 750 feedbacks i have only had 4 Neg, not counting this one...Mikey

I've had both bad selling and bad buying experiences.

Selling: Some guy buys a swing arm from my parted out Ducati. Three months later (after a positive from his end), he claims there's a crack in it. You would think that the 45 day dealio would apply here? No, ebay started shaking me down. I paid the $25 only so I could sell a few items.

Buying: I paid on Halloween for a cymbal. It took him until the Friday AFTER to ship the damned thing. Now, with the way the Postal Service is digging themselves a bigger hole, I am still waiting for the damned thing!!!! You had better believe that I am going to scrutinise EVERY detail about this cymbal. Yes, this guy held onto my money for five freakin' days before bothering to ship it. You had better believe that I am going to rate his DSR's quite low. The quote of "I will ship this thing out ASAP after payment" was quite a crock. No explanations, no apologies, NOTHING!!! I won't give a neutral or negative (unless the item is "not as described"), but guys like this are what ruined it for honest sellers and now lets buyers take advantage of honest people!!!

I have noticed more and more catalogue/online sellers using e bay and the private guys starting to go away. I will only sell on e bay if I CAN'T sell it anywhere else.

Yeah- I'm THAT guy!!!

From MIKEY777

.He nevered emailed me Ebay-{paypal}- open a un paid case at the 4th day-[I did not do that myself Ebay did?}- They Ebay closed the case and relisted the item..

Just so you know Mike, you can change those setting for automatic Unpaid Item case opening by going to My eBay, Account, Site Preferences, Click on the show link on Unpaid Item Assistant and then click on Edit. I have mine set for 8 days. I figure everyone has a bad week, but I send invoices when items close, 3 days later if not paid, then another 3, after that I let eBay send the Unpaid Item note.

I posted this in the other thread, and thought I'd re-post my 2 cents again in this one:

*****

I regularly sell through eBay with the same username. Please fell free to check out my items for sale!

I've had issues with eBay, too. In fact, I had 5 or 6 "dead-beat" bidders/winners a couple of months ago over a two-week period. One of them on a Club Date set that sold for big bucks. In each case I had other bidders who, by the time the 8 day window closed the other bidders had found the items elswhere or had changed their minds. I had a "dead-beat" winner on a Supra-400 that I later sold to member on this forum. Made him a good deal 'cause I was needing some cash flow.

And, even though my feedback is (still) at 100% and my DSR is at least 4.8 on each category, I've had "wacko" customers who I've had to just take a loss to pacify them. Funny thing about that -- IF you're a seller, eBay will really whack you if you even hint at using feedback to "manipulate" sales; but they do seem to let buyers get by with almost anything.

And, I think their fees are too steep, too. BUT -- I live in an area that is mostly small towns and rural areas and can't generate enough cash-flow without eBay. I do "consign" drums and sets at a local music store, but 1) they of course have "fees" as well, and 2) don't have enough traffic to keep me in enough cash-flow either.

On the other hand, by far MOST of my transactions (98% of better) have been good ones. Through eBay I've made a LOT of contacts that have delevoped into regular customers out-side of eBay, some of whom are also members of VDF. I put stuff up on eBay with minimum bids that I can live with after I've figured in their fees so that I can come out OK.

I'm 56, got laid-off my big-money manufacturing job almost 2 years ago, and even though I'm employed full-time again I NEED this business to supplement our income. And love every minute of it, even though I have to put up with "feeBay."

So, SOMETIMES you have no choice but to take the good-with-the-bad. That's what I do, and I just always try to make the best of it...

*****

To update a little, I just had a really GOOD week on eBay. About half of the sales were paid right away or at least within a couple of hours of the auction's close. I did have one winning bidder contact me with a problem with his Paypal account, wanting to send me a Money Order. When this happens, I just reply with my "Money Order" Policy:

1) I PREFER US Post Office MO. They can be verified and cashed at any US Post Office. Then I ship right away.

2) Any other type (Western Union, etc.) I deposit in my bank account and then WILL NOT ship until it clears, usually 7 to 10 days. When it clears, I ship.

IF they won't agree to my policy, we cancel the transaction. BTW -- my listings alway say "Paypal Only."

Just my two lincolns...

it seems to me there is a element on feebay that feeds on negativity and if u can prove bad feedback on certain people from extortion they(ebay) will remove it for you i have already done it, just keep the emails going and lead them into saying something negative about you before the deal is over and if it hints extortion hes done so play there game too if you cant beat them join them, they are waiting for a chance to destroy our rep, and you have to be always the calm and collective yet disinterested seller they will trip up them self, its mostly retailers looking to get something for free the market is so bad the average joe can only go to ebay for a wish list im checking out other sites as im fed up to
