Hi all, I was down at a drum shop yesterday doing some Christmas shopping for myself and, after talking to a guy who worked there about Rogers drums, he brings out this snare that's been in the shop for a while now. It's chrome over what appears to be mahogany with Rogers beavertail lugs, the clockface throwoff and butt plate, and tall boy hoops. There's only a little sticker on the shell inside that says it's made by Eddie Ryan Drum Co. A quick google search shows that this was a drum company that came about in the early 70's and made custom drums.
Is there any way to date the drum? I'd be interested in knowing when it was made and what it's worth. It sounds killer; it doesn't sound like a metal Powertone or a wood Powertone, it's like a bridge between the two. If I could pick it up for a good price I'd love to make it mine, any info would be appreciated!
