I'm going to say mid-60's Ludwig in Sky Blue Pearl 13-16-20 with a Superphonic snare.Nice videos with groove-

I concur, but think the snare is a matching JF.......

Yes to the Ludwigs with a Supraphonic snare. I did not see any matching Jazz Festival. Chromed snare in the first two for sure.

Too many drummers would have a hard time restraining themselves for the 4 minutes of Kissin' My Love, like this guy does. He never touches a crash cymbal or tom until the small crash at the very end., just 4 minutes of groove, no filler.

Awesome.

I taught an ensemble course for 5 years. I used to challenge drummers to play "Take Me To The River" like Gadson. As in - ONE fill, on the fade. How they used to fail miserably! In the deal, I would shout them a drink across the road from the college on a Friday afternoon if they played it like James. Didn't buy too many! Great drummer.

Gadson is the shizz! Smoothest right hand in the business. Check out Beck's "Books of Moses."
