Is it just me or are those bass drum spurs on backwards? Or, is the bass drum somehow set up backwards on purpose? Please explain!

He is playing the reso side. My guess is he wanted the toms real close to him.

Actually, I am playing on the reso side for two reasons.

1. The main tom set is rather large and I used a smaller 6, 8, 10 set of roto-toms on the left side of the kit so I needed more room close in to consistently reach them while making runs.

2. The bass struts in this configuration allow me to further adjust the bass pedal that has some major spurs of its own, to allow me to raise the bass off the floor all together. This further protects the bottom of the bass that usually sits on the floor by raising it a few millimeters off and also allows the bass to ring true on pedal beats.

The sound of this bass is like no other I have heard. Thunderous deep, dark penetrating thuds that really cut through the bottom of the music. I use to play a lot of Rush, Van Halen and other hard rock back in 1985-87 in a band called "Shelter" while attending college at Kutztown University Pa.
