Fibes Finish??? Last viewed: 6 hours ago

Loading...

Hi,

I just picked up this kit and was wondering what type of finish this is and if these drums are common. It appears to be a light colored fabric type finish. The interiors are all black and the drums appear to be fiberglass. There is a small square inside the drums that are not painted that have a number inscribed. Is this normal and should it be there? Thanks for your help.

That's FiVel, a weird spray on finish. I had a blue set for the same era. Different aspects of its construction were questionable in my opinion, but that's how they did them! I don't believe they're real common, at least I haven't seen too many around.

I can't tell by the pics, but at the drum show this year, a friend of mine had a booth and had a fibes set, with a unique finish, kind of looked like in door out door carpeting. It was cool. I talked to him about it, he is an expert on vinage drums, he said they only made a few kits in that finish............

here is a link to this guy, he lives near me, he only collects the best of the best. I dont know how he finds this stuff, but I almost had a heart attack when I saw his collection. stunning to say the least. he doesn't visit forums. too bad, he has a wealth of info he could share. he must have sold the fibes set at the show, I dont see it on his web site, he was asking $1300
