Just got back from Columbus, Ohio today. My wife attended a seminar
for her teaching credits, so I went to see Uncle Sam's Pawn Shop in downtown
Columbus. It was interesting, as I entered the business. A guy asked if he
could help me. I didn't know he was an employee, so I ignored him. I think
it made him a little angry, as he again asked me if he could help. I told
him that I was looking for old drums they might have for sale. He dummied-up
after I mentioned this. Another guy, who was also an employee said they
did have some older drums. I told him I heard they had a room that contain-
ed the old stuff. he took me upstairs, and there it was---THE ROOM!!!
The roomwas approximately 18' x 40" in size. Most of the drums were in cases, and he told me most of their inventory was in pawn. I did see 2
Ludwig butcher Block sets and a Champaigne sparkle kit with a 20" bass,
and a 14" floor tom. '60's drums, with white interiors. The one wall was full of guitar cases, lined up vertically in storage. I thought I had located a 20"
Slingerland tom hoop, but after inspecting it, it turned out it must have been an old import hoop, because it measured about 20 1/4". I met and talked with the owner, who gave me his business card. I'll be back in the future!!!
