Finished my "Peacock" Slingerland project. Last viewed: 21 minutes ago

Just finished up a project I'd been working for the past few weeks. These are vintage Slingerland drums that I rewrapped in that new version of Peacock pearl that is available on ebay. This is a set I bought several years ago at a Chicago area Music Go Round. They were in pretty rough shape and had been rewrapped (apparently several decades ago) in a very thin BDP wrap that was cracked and falling off the drums. I left these on the back burner, waiting for the "right" wrap to come along to inspire me to rewrap them. When that peacock stuff came online I knew it was time to proceed. I ran into a couple of stumbles along the way but I finally got everything done yesterday morning. First thing to do was a photo shoot of course.

Here's a video of the finished product...

Whoa! Cloud Badge center-lug Slingerlands, in Peacock, with matching snare--hard to beat! The bass hoops look great! This may be in the running for your top drumset. Nice goin'......marko

Here's what I originally brought home from MGR 7-8 years ago. They look better in the picture than they actually were. I almost bought the set for $350 when I first saw it but the condition scared me off. Six months later they were still there and I half jokingly offered $100 and they jumped on it (that should have maybe told me something). The wrap on them wasn't original (and in pretty bad shape) and later it turned out the bass drum shell wasn't either, consisting of masonite. This isn't so much a restoration as a Frankenstein creation but it's still quite cool considering the starting point.

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
