I can't ID the white kit but I have a 14" floor tom that used to match the rootbeer swirl kit. Got it on cl and it was painted black. When trying to remove the paint the wrap just sort of fell off (was very thin). Now it's just raw wood.

Believe it or else!

I don't have a better story... I have the same story. In 1974, I remember rewrapping a MIJ double-bass set made up of mismatched orphans in black contact paper so they'd all match. The fancy pearl and sparkle wraps were falling out of popularity then. Drum catalogs were offering more solid colors and natural wood wraps at the time, so to follow the trend and look more current, a lot of us were spray painting over pearl wraps or stripping them off completely down to the bare wood.DOH Now we're here on a forum dedicated to undoing these mistakes of our past. Ironic.

White kit looks like a Slingerland or made in Japan Slingerland knock-off.

Nice Premier Mahogany Duroplastic kit. There's a cult following for this type of wrap, because Ringo's first Beatles kit was a 12/16/20 w/14x4 snare in this pattern. Aside from the wrap, they are also awesome sounding drums. Thin 3-ply shells with re-rings and cast hoops.

Your kit looks like the Premier 303 Outfit (12/14/16/20): http://www.vintagedrumguide.com/premier_drumsets_1968.html

Do you still have them?

Thanks for posting.

by the looks of the badge and lug brackets, I would agree it is a slingerland...also the second cymbal stand from the left IS a slingerland stand...it has the red band at the joint. I'm not sure due to the angle of the photo but the tom mounts do not look right...am I seeing a rail across the white bass for a mount? or is it just the angle of the photo? I did not know slingerland made that style of a mount...i may not be seeing it correctly.

I see a rail tool. and vaguely remember a rail as well.....may be it was a MIJ set and not a slingerland.......
