First Speed King Pedal Last viewed: 6 hours ago

Picked up a Speedking on CL for $30, got it home and wow....

I love it!

SO smooth, quiet (yes quiet NO squeaks) and it feels amazing!

To you other SK users, where do you have your spring tensions at?

I know there is a learning curve but I cannot play doubles or triplets on this yet like I could on my newer pedal.

Any advice?

On the bottom of the goal posts there is an adjusting screw for the spring on each one.

You will have to experiment. In = more tension. Out less.

Got that part, didn't know if there was a "known sweet spot" out there for it.

It cleaned up real well, I will have to tinker with it this week.

Are there any "dont do _____" that I need to be aware of?

Don't throw it against the wall? Cool Dude

Naw, there built like a tank.

Really can't say if there is a particular sweet spot.

Injoy experimenting with it.

I find it ironic that the Swivomatic and Speed King pedal threads are next to each other. I wonder if I'm typical or not typical in my opinions. I fell in love with the Swivomatic pedal in 1960. I have owned and used a Speed King, and detested it. I know that there are people who feel exactly the opposite about these two pedals, and probably some who like both of them.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

having never played a swivo I cant compare/contrast them.

Compared to my Pearl pedals I just swapped out, the SK is amazing!

I used to unscrew the two bottom tension screws until "flush" with the bottom of the down tubes, then turn each 5 full turns around.......worked for me..............
