I just got sniped on a Yamaha catalogue I bid on days ago (only bidder until the end).
You have to bid early as high as you can stand it, and if you get out bid, you can relax knowing the other guy paid too much and wait for the next one...
But it is frustrating... I've been preparing for a storm ("The" storm?) all day and not surfing to keep tabs on this stuff.

Then you didn't bid enough to win. I've bid early and won as many as I lost. Some tried sniping, but my bid was higher. Frustrating, but you win if last second bid is still below yours - end of story.
