Need some help with this one please. I've got a floor tom that I'm considering selling, but I don't know all the details on it or have a solid fix on its value. Hoping that any of you can give me some input on it.
I think it's a late 40's -50's Walberg & Auge floor tom. I've managed to find pics of a couple of others much like it. It is a 16x14 floor tom. 16" being the depth. The finish is a black wrap much like Gretsch Black Nitron or the black wrap that Wfl/ Ludwig used. It has Gretsch Rocket lugs. It has brass flange hoops with clips. It has a round green felt muffler. The interior of the shell is painted black. It has upper, lower and center re-rings. Initially, i thought this was a 5 ply shell. But looking at it closer, the inner 3 plys are actually the re ring. I have read about W&A 2 ply shells and also 3,5,6 ply shells. It has Wfl leg mount/legs. W&A was known to use various brand parts and so forth as they actually made many of them for the leading drum manufacturers. The drum appears to be completely original and has what i also think are the original calf heads. Has some corrosion on some of the lugs and on the leg mounts. The wrap is beautiful. I only gave it a wipedown with Novus 1. The drum looks much like i found it. Just a mild cleaning.
Any info about the drum or it's value would be much appreciated. I'm in the dark on this one as there is not much to compare to. Thanks as always.
