Do these floor tom "cradles" work well in place of 3 legs, or are they cumbersome to work with and not user friendly?

Wayne - I bought one and sold it the next week!

1. It'll add a couple of inches to the circumference of the drum making it a pain in the kiester to get the drum into a case.

2. They're kinda heavy! It'll add about 4-5 lbs to the weight of the drum.

Gauger gets good reviews, but I just don't like them for the aforementioned reasons. That's my 2 cents.

John

Too many great drums to list here!

I have been wondering about floor tom feet. I have a bunch of legs with no rubber tip on them. Someone once told me about some special feet for floor toms that absorb the vibration. I cant remember what they called them.

Thank you!

Gibralter makes these "floating feet" or ISO feet as some call them. I have them on all my floor toms.

i have 2 of the original style RIMS floor tom cradles on my kit and they work fine. i never had issues and they sound great to me and my floors sing.

the originals are long discontinued and hard to find. i buy them to resell when i find them as they're still sought after.

worldmax makes a different version of a cradle which i do not like. they just don't look good to me. gaugers are aluminum so that's a plus. the pearl / gibraltar rubber feet are cool as well.

I've not used the cradles but Purdie is correct in that you will probably need a larger case.

Isolation feet are imperative as far as I am concerned. Jeff, if you have floor tom legs with no rubber feet at all, you will be shocked at how much better those toms will sound with Pearl or Gibralter isolation feet. In pretty much any case I can think of my drums have gone from completely mediocre to great with that simple investment.

You may find that the feet are to large for smaller vintage floor tom legs. Quick solution is to add a bit of electrical tape to the bottom of the leg to increase it's diameter. If you wanted to avoid the sticky mess later on, you could use some heat shrink tubing.

Thanks Scott, I will be purchasing a couple sets of these. Which ones do you use?
