Didn't think that I would ever sell this one. But, we've got a very sick cat that needs to get to the vet quickly, much more than I need to keep the drum. If you've been looking for one of these, please consider this one.

This is a late 50's Ludwig Transition badge ('58-'60) Super Ludwig 400. These are 5x14 10 lug brass shell drums with the rolled edges and crimped snare beds. These were made pre Ludalloy. So no question that these are brass shells. These early models have heavier lugs and also have the brass hoops. This drum is completely original with the exception of heads and wires. It has a newer Ludwig coated medium batter head, a brand new Ludwig snare side head and brand new Ludwig 20 strand script logo wires.

The drum has a nice look overall. It has been played. It's not top collector quality and it's much better than just calling it a player. No extra holes or damage. There is a rimshot crease in the batter hoop. Heads fit nicely. Bearing edges look great. The finish does have some scuffs, scratches and dings that you would expect with a chrome plated brass drum that is almost 60 years old. This model has a thick washer on the backside of the grommet that is original and seen on many of these drums. Has the WFL P83 strainer and snare butt that are correct for the drum. It sounds fantastic and has been on my main snare stand for quite some time now. I completely detailed the drum about this time last year. I wiped it down tonight as I put on the new head and wires.

Please pm me here or email to [email protected] if you have any questions. Thanks for checking it out.

Put our down at 8 years cancer but we have a new one now so mischievous and I always wonder were they get that energy I could borrow some I'd be great lol

66/67 downbeat with canister
Super 400 small round knob
1967 super classic obp

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.
