This is a late 50's Super Ludwig. This is the highly sought after chrome plated brass 5x14 model. These are 10 lug models with imperial lugs and a seamed shell with crimped snare beds. Being a 50 plus year old drum, this has seen some play time, but it still a fine looking, great sounding drum. The overall chrome plating is very nice. It has some dings and dents on several panels. At the bottom of the shell under the badge, there is a bit of a lip or raised portion at the edge. This area is covered by the head and the hoop. The drum takes heads easily and tunes right up with no problems at all. The batter inside flange edge also has a ding but does not cause any issues at all. I just like to be up front about these things and have taken photos as well.

The drum weighs 8.67 pounds fully dressed out. Interesting thing i ran across. I have two of these. i weighed both with just the bare shells. My other one has the same badge. This shell of this one is heavier at 1341 grams as opposed to the other at 1264 grams. It has original COB hoops which are in nice condition. Someone put their name in the batter hoop as shown.."Hudson". It has a Ludwig 3/4" small knob muffler that works perfectly. The strainer is a Wfl P83 which is what many of these came with. But it is nickel instead of chrome. It also has a chrome Wfl snare butt. It is currently equipped with 20 strand snare wires. It has new heads, Aquarian Hi-Velocity head on the batter and an Evans Hazy 300 on the snare side. There is some pitting on the lugs. These are the early design that are much beefier than the ones that Ludwig later used.

Great thing about the Trans Badge models is that there is no question as to brass or Ludalloy. All of these were brass. They sound fantastic. If I didn't already own one, I wouldn't be selling this one. Hoping to find this one a good home. These are more uncommon than the later Keystone badge models of the 60's. I have tried to price it fairly based on both what it is and it's condition. Please pm me here or email to [email protected] if you have any questions. Thanks for checking it out.
