Either this shows exactly how ebay has been infected by con artists, or even more sad, the fact of how stupid people really are. This is a completed listing, showing someone paid 21 million bucks on a box of twinkies. what is this world coming to. maybe we should forget about drums, and invest in Hostess.LOL!!!!
Forget about drums, collect Twinkies Last viewed: 2 hours ago

How are we in a recession when people can spend that much on Twinkies? What's next? Instead of drum shows there will be junk food shows that people can buy, sell and trade twinkies and ding dongs. People can also display vintage boxes and wrappers.
Well the Hostess liquidation is off the table now, so back down to $3.99 a box. I wrote that to some moron on ebay yesterday trying to sell a box for $100. Greedy SOB. I love doing stuff like that :)
Reminds me of the horrors of the Cabbage Patch Doll era (riots, shootings, stabbings, etc), idiots and morons. The Herd needs thinning.
I heard last night that although Hostess had filed bankruptcy, Twinkies would likely hang around because they brought in $68 million last year. They may have said billion - I wasn't really paying attention.
I haven't had a Twinkie in years, but all this talk of them going away makes me want one. Kinda like Cuban cigars, everybody wants what they can't have anymore. ;)

I think the auction was a " make an offer auction" re; cigars--- not only am I in Canada but I live a stepping stone from Tyendinaga Territory------how many cases Cuban cigars you need?

I thought Romeo y Julieta moved production to the Dominican Republic??? It was my understanding that most of the old brands like RyJ, Partagas, Hoyo de Monterrey, Cohiba, etc...had moved to the Dominican or Honduras or somewhere else. Or is that just the story they tell?

I'm technically supposed to be "quitting," but I wouldn't mind a good box of the real thing if I could find some. I have a friend who is going to the Dominican Republic in a few weeks - his wife is Dominican. He wants to bring some real Cubans back, smokes that is, but says it's too risky with customs. He said he essentially paid a bribe of a brand-new bottle of Polo cologne to get through Dominican customs last year.

This is from Wikipedia:
"After Rodriguez's death in 1954 (he was 88 years old), the revolution, and the subsequent nationalization of the tobacco industry, the brand was moved to La Romana in the Dominican Republic, where production of a Romeo y Julieta cigar for the American market continues today under the direction of Altadis SA. The Cuban government nationalized the brand and still produces and distributes it worldwide as one of its top-selling global brands."
I get the Cubans. They have a special flavor because they are hand-rolled on the sweaty thighs of gorgeous Cuban women! lol The labels on mine say; Habana, Cuba.
My son gets them in Manhattan at neighborhood Bodega. (from 'behind the counter' of a grocery store!) They're expensive, but available if you know who/where to go.
Back to the thread... (before we all get busted for even talking about this!)
