Found Bowling Ball Oyster Blue Snare, Pioneer, worth it? Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Haven't gotten a price yet, but just curious if it is so rare to see one in that color that I should buy it if the price is good?

I know the Pioneer isn't a fancy model etc. Just curious what people think of that model.

I just got a damned Supra, so Im not in the market AT ALL, but if it is that unusual....

This site is evil. DOH

I think the Pioneer is one of the better sounding snares. I wouldn't pass on it if the price is right.

Hey mw... I feel your pain, my friend. As I've said in previous posts on your threads, this vintage drum thing of ours is a slippery slope. If you don't keep it in check, you'll wind up having a house full of drums (which isn't entirely bad if you can admit you have a problem Walking)

Having the Supra is not a bad thing at all because it's THE snare to have. Pioneers are cool, and many here will swear by them, but it may not be the snare for you. The Supra was a 'safe' bet. If you want the Pioneer and it's a good price, then go ahead and grab it. My excuse when I find something I like at a good price is that I can always sell it for what I paid, or more. Just know exactly what you're doing :)

...oh, and if you do get it, then post pics, of course Excited

i think its always nice to have a matching snare. havent seen too many in that wrap either. pioneers are underrated in my book. ive got several. they have a sound of their own,and its a good one! i'd say get it if you can swing it..

I agree. The kit ain't complete w/out a matching snare. My Pioneer sky blue (much faded though) 6x15 snare sounds wonderful. I think the supraphonics look a bit out of place. Just my opinion. Not that's I'd mind having one but..

You know, it is MUCH more slippery of a slope because guitars are just BEYOND crazy expensive now.

Your last point about being able to sell for a profit has ALWAYS been a creedo for me. It is a fantastic safety net; as long as you don't get attached to anything.

I appreciate everyone's input. I will do it if the price is emergency flippable if it needs to go.

Thanks.

Cosmetically, I agree, a matching snare would be much better. I have searched the internet high and low and not seen another Blue Oyster Bowling Ball snare...

I especially like Bowling Ball Blue, & also like Pioneers, but I wouldn't put out $500.
