From Jelly to Walnut Last viewed: 4 minutes ago

Well, the Ludwig/DW kit I painted in a jelly bean, got refinished in a walnut stain. I found a 16x16 Ludwig floor tom, removed the ugly black wrap and refinished it. It took me three days to remove the hardware, wrap and paint, clean the hardware, stain them and reassemble. It's not a professionally job by no means, but they look pretty good until I can re-wrap them. The rack and kick are 3ply and the floor is 6ply.

once the brass ceases to glitter, and the drum looses its luster, and the stage remains dark, all you have left is the timbre of family.

I like them Mark. Great job. Walnut stain was a good choice~! You've sure put some hours into these with the jelly bean paint and now a refinish.

I would say, too many hours, I sold the DW floor and traded the Leedy for some things I could move faster along with the Ludwig floor tom in the pic. I also got a pretty cool Ludwig rosewood snare on the deal, but I'm keeping that. I'm not really a "gear" guy, this is my only kit, along with a Supra, the rosewood snare and various cymbals, that's it. I gig regularly and don't find much use for more drums. That and the fact we live in a condo and there's not much room. However, I do want one more kit, hopefully a a nice vintage Ludwig Downbeat or Club Date.

This may sound strange - I am not a fan of a stained kit like that...but wow - if I was (for those who are) that is gorgeous!

I had a great day! Instead of sleeping in and wasting the day, I got up at 8 and I had all my slacking done by noon!

Jelly bean was cool, I like this better. Very very nice indeed. You mentioned a re-wrap...?
