I could be wrong, but I think Ludwig tom/FT leg brackets will fit in the holes, maybe look for some vintage ones? (I have some but they're not for sale).
FT Leg Bracket Decision... Last viewed: 4 hours ago
Think you are right FF...
I could be wrong, but I think Ludwig tom/FT leg brackets will fit in the holes, maybe look for some vintage ones? (I have some but they're not for sale).
Thanks! I did think of that, and also have some spares, but alas, the holes do not match up. They are too close together, whereas the Gretsch are too far apart.
I'm currently leaning toward dowel-plugging the top hole, enlarging the bottom hole, and installing the Techware brackets. I was using them on a 16" Gretsch FT with straight 1/2" round-stock legs with isolation feet and they are just rock solid. On a 14" Club Date FT they will be overkill which I like.
I want to make this Club Date kit my one and only, with whatever mods necessary to make it a real workhorse. Shored up, reinforced...and covered in my soon-to-come home-made Silver German Glass Glitter wrap [glitter is on its way]. Remember this kit came to me with cracked and repaired shells, tons of issues so modding it is not spoiling anything pristine.
I have these two Gretsch toms, rack and floor, for which I could get little cash as they have problems [extra holes, no tags, re-worked edges] so I've been parting them out on ebay and doing very well indeed. I'm not stripping collector drums or a factory set, and I'm allowed only one drum kit. :)
On top of everything else, I think I can get more for the Club Date FT brackets *with* legs than I could for Gretsch brackets without...
