George Way/Oaklawn Camco Orphan Kit Last viewed: 32 minutes ago

9"x13", 12"x15", 16"x16", 14"x20" w/5"x14" snare. This kit is the result of 18 months of hunting for drums and parts and restoration work. It is by far the best sounding/playing set of drums I have ever owned or played in 50 years of drumming. I am deeply impressed with the pure quality of George Way/Camco drums. Wish I had 'discovered' them sooner.

Enjoy...

John

LOL - No, the logo was created by a good buddy of mine who loves, plays and collects Geo. Way and Camco drums. The play on the DW logo is his idea. Bloody brilliant I think. He gifted me the logo for my bass drum. I've gotten a lot of positive comments from other drummers about it. Kind of like an 'inside joke' that only other drummers can appreciate.

BTW, it is only one of two known examples of a 14"x20" Geo. Way bass drum. The other one is in a private collection in the UK. Cool beans, man! I love it that it's rarer than a hens tooth... adds to the mojo.

mfry! Geez, everybody is here! I wish I'd known sooner, I would have signed up a week ago! lol

I was telling Mark that I found the forum by accident. I've had this place bookmarked for years. I use it for serial numbers, badges, any kind of research I need to do to identify vintage drums I have always used this site. I was here a few days ago and for the very first time, I noticed this place had a forum. The second I clicked into the forum I saw familiar names... so I signed up immediately. I'm glad I did. Great to be reunited with my drum-buds. The Band

Always loved this kit. I remember how you agonized over what color to re-wrap. I think you made a wise choice.

Great looking drums. Purdie. Good to see you in here. Are you thinking about completing the drum set by installing a vintage correct tom mount? Mr. Way made many drum sets with a rail consolette. That is what I would use if the drums were mine.

No matter how far you push the envelope, it is still stationery.

How rare is Camco to me personally? In 20 years of collecting and playing vintage drums, gigging, and visiting drum shops all over the US, I have never seen a Camco kit in person.

But I have seen, heard, and played an ASBA kit!
