I'm using one on my old Slingerland kit because its original consolette was in pretty sorry shape.

Pros: It's as sturdy as most any other piece of Gibraltar hardware. Lines right up with the old holes of a 2-hole W&A consolette. More adjustable and more easily adjustable than typical vintage consolettes.

Cons: Doesn't exactly look vintage. Bulkier than originals. The "hot dog" sits a little further from the bass drum shell to accommodate the clamp/tilt mechanism of the consolette arm. As purchased, it doesn't work with vintage diamond plate spade receiver on toms.

Overall: It's OK. If I had to do it all over again, I might consider going with the Steve Maxwell consolette.

It replaces the original rail. You can't use the original rail because it doesn't provide enough clearance for the tilt/clamp mechanism at the base of the Gibraltar rail's "post". Look in the attached pic, where the bottom knob is. That's the part that needs extra clearance between the rail and the drum, so Gibraltar added at least half an inch or so to the height of the rail.
