I Posted this is the restore section, but no one helped me with an opinion. I have a drum where the badge is coming up at one end. what is the best way to repair this. super glue? do I need to remove the badge first? or can I mask the area off, and then reglue? I would like to know before I mess the drum up.

Hi,
I had exactly the same issue with my COB Krupa snare where the 2 edges were lifting.
I precisely masked the area around and the badge itself.
(I used a strong adhering duct-tape, stuck a big piece over the entire badge-area and used a precision cutter around the edge of the badge)
Carefully lifted the badge slightly and applied super-glued under the badge.
Applied pressure with 2 bar clamps for a couple of hours.
Unfortunately, one side already came loose so I'll redo the process with a stronger glue. The good thing is that when you do it with care, it is not visible and the glue doesn't leave any mark. On the other hand, I do believe that the resonating of the shell causes quite heavy vibrations which could be the cause of breaking the glue. Just guessing.
Hope this helps,...
Stef

I have rehabbed enough drums to feel confident with removing the badge for step #1. Step #2 is to gently bend the badge around a can or a jar with a diameter of about six inches. Step #3 is to reinstall the badge with a grommet that matches the original grommet. The new small diameter of the curvature of the badge will flatten the badge just enough to match the 14" diameter of the snare drum as the badge is pulled snugly against the shell when the grommet is secured by the flared collar formed on the inside of the shell. If this is done slowly and carefully, the badge will look factory fresh. if you would like some details on removing the badge and reinstalling it, please PM me.
