GMS Snare Silver Sparkle 5x14 Last viewed: 1 hour ago

Hey all, dropping this GMS snare to see if anyone can date and/or give an approx value to it. It sounds amazing, and I love their huge silly throw-offs. I got this for free from fellow drummer and friend Matt Flynn, who snatched up the big bucks getting the gig with Maroon 5. He had to move to L.A. and gave me this, as well as and old Yamaha Tour Custom, ond some Hi-Hats signed by (oddly enough) Vinnie Paul. SO anyway it was free anyway, and I love it, so I probably wouldn't sell it, just curious.

Thanks

Best to search ebay for what GMS drums are trading hands for. Nice drums, but not worth a tremendous amount yet.....they are pretty much considered just used drums at this point, not vintage or collectable.......yet

Serial no. "SE0747" would be somewhere in like the 2-4th years of production, correct? I mean look, you've got to drop several $MM to get all of the equipment, space and then build inventory units for whatever retailers you have managed to pick up by this point in production. After tat, you have to have enough reserves to pay employees, and on top of that, endorsements, taxes.....and this ser # is a very low number, for production cycles like this. I used to work in factory homes and the company I was fortunate enough to work for, after only 4 full years of production we had only reached ser # 1300. That is not really a sustainable count for that industry, especially since we built one off and complete custom homes, not standard, off the shelf units. Most of our retail customers paid in cash, on average $100,000ish. Now we were not allowed to sell directly to the public by HUD law, so we had a retail network and those guys had to have inventory in order to show off our standard amenities and many of the floorplans. We sold all multi unit homes, now singles and every part and piece you repair or replace at any normal homes mega center or hardware store, up until about ser# 3500, which is a current model, reduced in stature from it's Glory Days.

So, this would have to be a very early kit, considering Maroon 5 has been around for a decade or more by now. I agree with both, considering the one factor: If you don;t get the documentation, it's another drum, if you DO get it, you could sell it, later on down the road, to a Matt Flynn fan, for a pretty penny.
