Just picked up a set of Gon Bop congas out of an old mom and pop music store, that was shutting down. These were in the store, and never sold. They are from the san fran plant a long time ago. I need to know what model they are, and the age, the model numbers are IVQ-3097, and IVT-3097. the serial numbes are 9197412 o both drums. They appear to be oak, with a darkish green trans tint. Theystill have the store hang tags on them. Any info on this pair would be apreeciated Thank Jim @ Dallas Guitar Services

(214) 363-9225 haveing trouble with posting a pic. I'll figure it out

Thanks Jim

Hi - nice find. The 'Q" and the 't" in the model #s are Quinto and Tumba I think - not positive though.

Be nice to see some photos if you can do that.

It is being shipped to me and wondering if it was made as a bass drum....or someone modified it?

Appreciate any info you might know of.

Yeah this was made for a drummer named Olatungi Many years ago. Gon-bop produced quite a few of them but were not good sellers and discontinued them. It is was used a bass drum for the conga drums

Jim, the "greenish tint" stain and "IV" means these congas are the Voodoo model. A little rarer than the other models, but that might not equate to being worth more, just fewer of them out there. Some really great sounding drums, some of the best to my ears...
