you guys are lucky!!!!!!!!! The only drums I have ever seen at my "area " Goodwill or eco Store are FIRST ACT!.My cousin reports back if there aRE any drums to the thrift shops and this is what I have to deal with.......

Goodwill auctions come in from all over the US, & there is no coherent policy about shipping. Each location simply makes it up, arbitrarily & whimsically. Their guesses are fabricated nonsense, that could go both ways, overwhelmingly they grossly overstate the weight. I've written the central office three times about their insensitivity to the buyer, but they respond w/ corporate pap & denial. (After all, why change a system that reaps in so much extra pocket money ? ). I have never seen evidence of any auction using an honest scale weight. Goodwill also tends to use UPS which is 2 to 3 times the cost of USPS Parcel Post. (BTW , spare me the lecture about their charity work. They are as prone to exploitation & fraud as any other business. Google to get a more accurate portrait of this industry).

That is why I'll never ever buy anything from them, never have never will. I buy most of my vintage gear from the individual.

So true on the shipping cost.This is way when i buy i will have a friend pick up the drum or set for me and ship it to me..I can live with the 2.00-5.00 handling/pick-up fee...Just a side note years ago at the Goodwill as-is lot in santa ana,ca were all the truck's from O.C came in and unloaded they saved all the drums ete for me.I would get so many drums every week oh the good old days before the computer auction they have now...Mikey

When I said it stinks on ice I was refering to the single gretsch shipping weight listed at 35# while the 2 Luddies were 11# together.
Charging the 35# rate for a single snare is what the clothes pin on the nose is for.

Has anyone asked if the 35 lbs is a typo or mistake? Unless it's filled with lead they should revisit the weight and revise the shipping.

Something to think about.I have been checking on the closed auctions and looking at the bid history its somewhat funny on high winning auction's bid's i see some of the same bidder's I.D. who did not win the auction..Makes you think who is going the bidding?....Mikey
