He said I was the guy. Huh?!?!

So you're saying that you got the blues gig AND the other gig (offer). What a kick. I have an audition coming up with a very strong group - hoping for the best. Thanks for the inspiration. Maybe there's hope!!!

Yeah- I thought that other audition was HORRIBLE!!!! I wouldn't have offered me the gig, as I was woefully unprepared.

Of course the blues gig may turn into a blues AND rock/pop gig. He wants me to learn "Heartbreaker" and "Barracuda", not exactly the easiest two songs to learn...

Two VERY FUN songs to play as a drummer! One song I always wanted to play was Baby Love by Mothers Finest, but never worked with a female singer that could pull it off. Still use that one occasionally to practice to...a lot of fun to play! Those guys were buddies of ours back in the day, Great Band!

It's just the breaks that are tough with these tunes. Of course I can over complicate darned near any song!!!!

I can relate! Like Black Dog, I remember spending weeks breaking the damn song down when I was a kid. Could play it lick for lick in my practice room with the headphones on...BUT, I'd get on stage & suddenly my brain turned into jell-o & I was throw sticks all over the room. Performance anxiety...thank GOD for old age! LOL!

I've been watching youtube videos of dudes playing "Barracuda"- it's interesting how many different ways this song gets played with roughly the same results. I admit I am more Ringo than Carl Palmer, so admittedly- the songs will sound a bit more spare than the original recording. I am just not a busy player.

Performance anxiety for me, unfortunately, was a LOT more embarrassing than throwing sticks ***blush***...
