As an offshoot of the "What is YOUR Go To RECORDING Kit!?!" thread.
What are some of your favorite live mic'ed room recordings?
I have many, but this one stands out.
Dave Brubeck - Jazz At Oberlin
It was recorded at Finney Chapel at Oberlin College in 1953 and is considered "the" recording that catapulted jazz into the spotlight. If you haven't heard this recording, check it out.
Finney Chapel is just that, a church with huge open ceilings. To make the stage, they install plywood pieces that extend from the pulpit and rest over top of the first couple rows of pews.
I went to an Oberlin College Jazz performance a couple months ago held at Finney Chapel and was blown away by the sound!
